“Excuse Me, God”

Introduction- Among the commentaries used in this series, I relied heavily on Charles Swindoll's book on Moses for both content and structuring the series

Moses’ five excuses for not serving God sound very familiar:

I. THE EXCUSE OF INSIGNIFICANCE – 3:11-12

1 Sam. 16:7; 2 Chron. 16:9a; 1 Cor. 1:26-29

II. THE EXCUSE OF IGNORANCE – 3:13-22

III. THE EXCUSE OF INSECURITY – 4:1-9

Matt. 28:20; Acts 1:8; Rom. 8:28

IV. THE EXCUSE OF INABILITY – 4:10-12

Acts 7:22; 1 Cor. 2:1-5

V. THE EXCUSE OF INCOMPETENCE – 4:13-17

Conclusion- 1) God accepts no excuses

2) We must have confidence in God, not ourselves

3) Don’t arrogantly aspire for too much, but don’t sheepishly settle for too little

either
